SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, APPELLATE DIVISION, SECOND JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT, RE-AFFIRMS THE CORRECT CONSTRUCTION OF RELIGIOUS CORPORATIONS LAW SEC. 200.

New York, NY, January 5, 2015: The Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, re-affirms the correct construction of Religious Corporations Law sec. 200.

Reversing a ruling by a trial judge sitting in Rockland County, the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, has issued an opinion in Kamchi v. Weissman (December 31, 2014), re-affirming the construction of Religious Corporations Law sec. 200 urged by Edward S. Rudofsky, a Partner at Zane and Rudofsky, in an amicus brief filed on behalf of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

The decision cites the cases and approves the reasoning set forth in the brief, which was based on Mr. Rudofsky's leading article on the subject, "The Role of the Synagogue Board in the Employment of the Rabbi."
